Parent/Spectators Expectations

Parents/Spectators

Parents and spectators will also receive “penalties” for unsportsmanlike conduct during a game, practice, or any MHC event. The procedure is as follows:

1. During a game, the game will be stopped by on-ice officials when the parents or spectators interfere with the game or other spectators.

2. The on-ice officials will identify the violators to the coaches for the purpose of removing the violators from the spectator’s viewing and game area. Once removed, play will resume. Lost time will not be replaced and violators will be subject to further disciplinary action by the MHC rules and ethics committee.

3. During a practice or MHC event, the violator will be asked to stop the behavior and to leave the area. If they refuse, the hockey director should be immediately notified.

 Inappropriate and disruptive behavior includes:

a. Use of obscene or vulgar language in a boisterous manner to anyone at any time.

b. Taunting of players, coaches, officials or other spectators by means of baiting, ridiculing, threat of physical violence or physical violence.

c. Throwing of any object in the spectators viewing area, players’ bench, penalty box or on ice surface, directed in any manner as to create a safety hazard.

Consequence/Penalty:

1. Parent receives a minimum 3 game suspension.

2. Team receives a bench minor.

3. The MHC may assess an additional game suspension.

4. In the case of inappropriate or disruptive behavior during a practice, a game suspension may be given.
